OFF the Beaten Path: Anthem and Aria

  • Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church 6000 Bentwood Trail Dallas, TX, 75252 United States (map)

DESCRIPTION:

Inspired by the emotionally contemplative “Heiliger Dankgesang…” of Ludwig van Beethoven, this program dives into the struggles of the internal vs. the external, culminating in a triumphant expression of the human spirit. Paired with the Beethoven’s masterful Op. 132 string quartet, the program features the stunning string quartet of Steven Mackey - “One Red Rose” - commissioned by the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in honor of the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination. Furthermore, this program will open with the Dallas premiere of Caroline Shaw’s “Schisma”, taking its inspiration from Beethoven’s masterpiece.
